A little mix of news and what's been going on...

...The new lineup keeps getting tighter with every rehearsal & gig. We've added some new venues to the schedule, so please come out & support the band. Bring some friends!

...We are sorry to hear of the sudden passing of our friend Dennis Federko. Some of you may have seen Dennis jam with us at Smedley's and the 55th Street Marina. Dennis was an avid sailor and was recently engaged. We will miss him.

...Thanks to Harry for another great time at the Winchester this past Saturday. Mark & I always enjoy accompanying him for these unplugged shows. We had a small but enthusiastic crowd and that made the evening a real pleasure.

...on a personal note, thanks to Eddie Tomecko from A/V Works at the Media Cube in Strongsville. Eddie was the Engineer/producer on Miss Fortune and last week had Todd Rundgren & band rehearsing at his studio for their upcoming tour that kicked off in Akron this weekend.

After learning of the huge influence Todd has been to me musically, he scheduled a recording session for early Thursday morning with myself & local artist son.e.boy. As a result, I not only got to meet Todd, Kasim Sultan (Utopia), Roger Powell(Utopia), Greg Hawkes(The Cars), Prairie Prince(The Tubes), Jessie Gress, Bobbie Strickland and Todd's wife Michelle (a great singer/comedienne)...I spent the whole day hangin' out with everyone. It was the treat of a lifetime for me.

Thanks Eddie!

Ken

New Lineup Solidified!

With the addition of Jeff Capps on drums the new DVB lineup is complete. We're busy learning new material that is sounding GREAT!
To all of our friends at Smedley's, thanks for your compliments. We're thrilled that you like the new sound.

It's never easy when a band changes personnel. Not only does the sound of the group change, but new personalities bring a new dynamic.

The new dynamic is very good...and very comfortable! We love the sound & it's great to find musicians who are not only good players & singers, but a real pleasure to work with.
We rehearse at Jeff's home studio & his wife Therese has welcomed us like family...Thanks Therese! (You don't have to make lunch for us all the time...unless you really want to)

We're moving in a good direction and are looking forward to writing some new originals very soon.

Life is good!

Friends, family & those of you who saw us at Brothers' on the 23rd know that we are looking for someone to permanently fill the drummer spot in the group. We have been auditioning for the last few weeks, and I have to say that there are some really talented players out there. What an enjoyable experience this has turned out to be.

Our decision is going to be a difficult one. We will know in the next 2 weeks...stay tuned.

Another kick ass Brother's show!

Even though it was a holiday weekend with beautiful weather the crowd at Brother's was great, as usual. Kelly Wright & Pete Cavano started the festivities at 6. If you haven't had the opportunity to see Kelly & Pete, be sure to seek them out & attend one of their shows. Kelly's website is on our links page.
Local band Joe's Garage took to the stage next with a great set of original music.
It was after 10:30 when we finally hit the stage with new singer Rick Starnoni and a familiar face behind the drums, Wil Jones. Wil was a founding member of DVB & helped out his old band mates at the last minute. I think Wil is the official DVB drummer at Brother's Lounge.
The energy was great and we played straight through until 1am, joined at one point by former singer DC, blowing his harp in "Too Rolling Stoned".
Thanks to all who came out...Steve & Catherine, John Z., Steve & Chris, Kathy, Jan, DC & Michelle.
Everyone's support is really appreciated.
We love playing Brother's Lounge! Thanks Giuseppe.

The end of 2008 saw the end of Deja Voodoo Band as we knew it. As always happens in music, band members were starting to move in new & different directions...but it was all good! Mark, Todd & Ken were determined to carry on.

We are excited to welcome drummer, John Darling and vocalist, Rick Starnoni to the DVB family. Both of these guys are veterans of the Cleveland music scene and accomplished musicians.

So, you're going to hear a new sound with some new songs and a new look.

Keep checking the schedule page for new gigs and be sure to come out and say Hi to John & Rick.

We celebrated bassman Todd's birthday and the energy was strong all night long.

I've said it before...this is a great place for music & food. The menu has something for everyone and everything is prepared to perfection...and what can you say about the music hall.

We LOVE playing this place! This show saw the return of former DVB drummer Wil Jones...thanks Wil...just like riding a bike.

Guiseppe, thanks for the GLB in the dressing room.

If you are looking for a great night out, go to Brother's.
It's been a long time since my last entry. Since then we have played a lot of great gigs, saw old friends and made some new friends.
Well, fall is here and looking back at this past summer there are many Deja Voodoo Band highlights to mention.

Of course, the release of our CD Miss Fortune started the summer off and we thank everyone who supported us by buying a CD, downloading it on iTunes or coming out to one of our shows.

We played some great new venues the last few months...At Witz End in Willoughby, The American Legion in Ashtabula, Little Mountain Country Club and the Brother’s Lounge. Brother’s was a special night...what was supposed to be a one set gig turned into an all-nighter as DVB played sets with drummers Mike Miheli and former DVB member Wil Jones, finally ending the night with Brother’s owner Chris on the skins.

As we wind down to the end of 2008 we’re looking forward to seeing all of our friends and family at our remaining gigs.

We have some great shows coming up...Halloween at Witz End, November 8th at Brother’s and the night before Thanksgiving back at Witz End. We’ll finish off 2008 on New Year’s Eve at the American Legion Post #103 in Ashtabula.
