Deja Voodoo Band: News / Blog

And the search continues... - June 8, 2009

Friends, family & those of you who saw us at Brothers' on the 23rd know that we are looking for someone to permanently fill the drummer spot in the group. We have been auditioning for the last few weeks, and I have to say that there are some really talented players out there. What an enjoyable experience this has turned out to be.

Our decision is going to be a difficult one. We will know in the next 2 weeks...stay tuned.

Another kick ass Brother's show! - May 28, 2009

Even though it was a holiday weekend with beautiful weather the crowd at Brother's was great, as usual. Kelly Wright & Pete Cavano started the festivities at 6. If you haven't had the opportunity to see Kelly & Pete, be sure to seek them out & attend one of their shows. Kelly's website is on our links page.
Local band Joe's Garage took to the stage next with a great set of original music.
It was after 10:30 when we finally hit the stage with new singer Rick Starnoni and a familiar face behind the drums, Wil Jones. Wil was a founding member of DVB & helped out his old band mates at the last minute. I think Wil is the official DVB drummer at Brother's Lounge.
The energy was great and we played straight through until 1am, joined at one point by former singer DC, blowing his harp in "Too Rolling Stoned".
Thanks to all who came out...Steve & Catherine, John Z., Steve & Chris, Kathy, Jan, DC & Michelle.
Everyone's support is really appreciated.
We love playing Brother's Lounge! Thanks Giuseppe.

Back for More... - April 29, 2009

The end of 2008 saw the end of Deja Voodoo Band as we knew it. As always happens in music, band members were starting to move in new & different directions...but it was all good! Mark, Todd & Ken were determined to carry on.

We are excited to welcome drummer, John Darling and vocalist, Rick Starnoni to the DVB family. Both of these guys are veterans of the Cleveland music scene and accomplished musicians.

So, you're going to hear a new sound with some new songs and a new look.

Keep checking the schedule page for new gigs and be sure to come out and say Hi to John & Rick.

Brother's Lounge - November 10, 2008

THANK YOU to all who came out to Brother's Lounge on Saturday! The house was rockin' right from the sound check. We celebrated bassman Todd's birthday and the energy was strong all night long.

I've said it before...this is a great place for music & food. The menu has something for everyone and everything is prepared to perfection...and what can you say about the music hall.

We LOVE playing this place! This show saw the return of former DVB drummer Wil Jones...thanks Wil...just like riding a bike.

Guiseppe, thanks for the GLB in the dressing room.

If you are looking for a great night out, go to Brother's. It's worth the drive from wherever you are.

Check out their website on our LINKS page. They always have something special cooking.

Christmas time is here...well, almost - October 15, 2008

DVB has recorded an original Christmas song. It's going to be part of a CD/DVD package to benefit The Good Intentions Foundation...please check out their link on this site.

The CD will contain songs by several of Cleveland's finest musicians.

It's a new sound for us but includes all of the great DVB parts...Mark's awesome guitar work, Todd's tasty bass lines & some pretty good drums & keys.

Oh yeah, the incredible Kellie Love sings on it too...we all got chills listening to her.

Look for an announcement of a release party sometime soon.

It's been a long time... - October 10, 2008

It's been a long time since my last entry. Since then we have played a lot of great gigs, saw old friends and made some new friends.
Well, fall is here and looking back at this past summer there are many Deja Voodoo Band highlights to mention.

Of course, the release of our CD Miss Fortune started the summer off and we thank everyone who supported us by buying a CD, downloading it on iTunes or coming out to one of our shows.

We played some great new venues the last few months...At Witz End in Willoughby, The American Legion in Ashtabula, Little Mountain Country Club and the Brother’s Lounge. Brother’s was a special night...what was supposed to be a one set gig turned into an all-nighter as DVB played sets with drummers Mike Miheli and former DVB member Wil Jones, finally ending the night with Brother’s owner Chris on the skins.

As we wind down to the end of 2008 we’re looking forward to seeing all of our friends and family at our remaining gigs.

We have some great shows coming up...Halloween at Witz End, November 8th at Brother’s and the night before Thanksgiving back at Witz End. We’ll finish off 2008 on New Year’s Eve at the American Legion Post #103 in Ashtabula.

THANK YOU! - June 22, 2008

A big THANK YOU to all of our friends & family who came to The Winchester on Friday for our CD release party! We had a blast!
Thank you Kellie Love & Eddie Tomecko for those great backing vocals. Kellie is the backing voice you can hear on the Miss Fortune CD & Eddie is the producer & recording engineer for the CD.
If you don't have the CD yet, what are you waiting for? Get on iTunes and put DVB on your iPod.
Finally, thanks to Jim & Rebecca at The Winchester Tavern & Music Hall. When it comes to Live music in Cleveland, this is the place to go!
To family, friends & fans...WE LOVE YOU!

PD 13 Washout - June 13, 2008

Well, 2 years ago it was a snow storm in Buffalo that kept us from playing in Port Dover...this year it was thunder storms. 30 minutes before we were to hit the stage a major front blew into Port Dover, & heavy rains, lightning & thunder blanketed the area for the next 3 hours.
We love this gig & wanted to play, even if it was only for an hour...but the weather did not cooperate.
Loads of thanks to Grog & Rose for the unbelievable accommodations...the support of Chris, Bob, Corky and all of our friends in Port Dover, Ontario.
We will see you in August 2010, since next years Friday 13th's are in Feb., March & November...brrrrrrrr!!!!!

Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky - June 10, 2008

Thanks to Steve Ernst for another fun gig at Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky. The venue was moved indoors because of the muddy field, but everything was great. We'll see you next year!

After the Gig at Bilo's in Strongsville - May 19, 2008

Thanks to Ann Thompson from "After the Gig" for coming out to Bilo's in Strongsville on Saturday night. Check out her website on our Links page. "After the Gig" is all about the Cleveland music scene and Cleveland musicians.
And, when you're near Strongsville, stop at Bilo's on Pearl Road for great food & beverages. Super friendly staff and a great Martini menu too!

Thank you to Great Lakes Brewing Co. - May 15, 2008

Special thanks to Kami & Lee at the Great Lakes Brewing Company for allowing DVB to use the Pub to take promotional photos. We are big fans of Great Lakes beers, (please brew a lot more Nosferatu this year) and the Pub downstairs was a perfect place for the shoot. If you haven't visited the GLB, you're missing out on a great place to have lunch, dinner or pint or two. Don't forget to take a growler home like I did.

Gitter Picker String Factory - May 9, 2008

Thanks to Steve & Laura of Gitter Picker String Factory on Darrow Road in Twinsburg. We had a great time at the 'Miss Fortune" listening party you held at your store last night. And, thanks to all who stopped by to support DVB. Check out the Gitter Picker website on our LINKS Page.

Smedley's...WOW - April 27, 2008

Another rockin' night at Smedley's! It seems that every time we play there it keeps getting better...is that possible? Thanks to everyone who came out & kept the house jumpin' until closing time. It was the first full night gig for our newest member, drummer Steve Zavesky...it felt like we had played together for years.

CD Release Party - April 7, 2008

The party...and it will be a PARTY, has been scheduled for the Winchester Music Hall on June 20th. More details soon!

New CD coming soon! - April 7, 2008
